JAMES WAS A 32-YEAR-OLD US ARMY SARGENT, WHO WENT MISSING ON DECEMBER 7TH, 1963.
FIFTY-NINE YEARS AND THERE ARE STILL UNASWERED QUESTIONS ABOUT HIS DISAPERANCE.
JAMES LIVED IN BALITIMORE MARYLAND WITH HIS WIFE THEDA AND HIS THREE CHILDEREN.
JAMES WAS ON HIS WAY HOME TO VISIT HIS MOTHER AND STEPFATHER FOR CHRISTMAS IN SAULSVILLE, WV (LOCATED IN WYOMING COUNTY).
HIS TRIP WAAS MOSTLY UNEVENTFUL... THAT IS UNTIL HE GOT TO BOLT, WV...
IT WAS A COLD DECEMBER NIGHT SO JAMES DECIDED TO STOP IN A LOCAL TAVERN TO WARM UP. SADLY, JAMES ENDED UP GETTING INTO A FIGHT WITH THREE MEN (JAMES COZORT, JAMES FLOYD COX, AND WILLIAM LUNDY TRUMP).
SOON AFTER THE FIGHT JAMES DECIDED TO LEAVE THE TAVERN AND CONTINUE ON HIS TRIP.
THE THREE MEN FOLLOWED JAMES AND AS THEY TURNED UP BOLT MOUNTAIN HEADED TOWARDS GLEN ROGERS, WV. THEY SAW JAMES AND RAN HIM OVER TO MAKE SURE JAMES WAS DEAD THEY BACKED OVER HIM.
ANOTHER PERSON AT THE TAVERN LEFT AROUND THE SAME TIME AS THE THREE MEN. HE SAW THE THREE MEN PULLED OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITH THE TRUNK OF THEIR CAR OPEN. NOT TO LOSE ANY MOMENTIM HE ROLLED HIS WINDOW DOWN AND ASKED IF THEY NEEDED ANY HELP THE THREE TOLD HIM NO...
THE VERY NEXT DAY HE HEARD THAT JAMES HAYNES WAS MISSING. RIGHT THEN AND THERE HE KNEW WHAT HE SAW.
NOT TOO LONG AFTER JAMES WAS REPORTED MISSING AUTHORITIES GOT A TOP AND STARTED TO SEARCH FOR JAMES ON BOLT MOUNTAIN. THE SEARCH LED AUTHORTIES TO A SPOT WHERE THEY FOUND A TREE WITH HIS DOG TAGS NAILED TO IT, HIS WALLETT AND A FEW BLOODY RAGS STUFFED IN A TREE STUMP.
A YEAR LATER IN 1964 JAMES LEE HAYNES WAS DECLARED DEAD.
